On summer break being too long yet too short
In an ideal world, I'd have a month of each season on repeat, in order, throughout the year. A month of spring, followed by a month of summer, et cetera. Enough time to enjoy it, not enough time to get tired of it.
I am absolutely thrilled that fall is here, but I definitely did not get to spend enough time at the beach. I'll have to catch up next year.
In the meantime, sweater weather. And Autumn Fogs.
On feeling like a kid in a candy shop
A few weeks ago I made the trek (again) to Charlotte to visit Carolina Clay Connection, and I was totally blown away. Coming from a college town, we don't have a dedicated ceramics store - we barely have art shops at all - so getting to walk in and talk with people who understood when I babbled on about how my glazes had been misbehaving and what kind of tools I was looking for was amazing. I definitely strained the wallet more than intended, but hoo boy was it worth it.
On my first collaboration project
This summer I worked with Amelia of Little Eli to create a line of ceramic and concrete jewelry. It was, in my opinion, a great success and a wonderful opportunity. It definitely piqued my interest, and I may explore jewelry more in the future with my own work, as well as possibly (maybe?) collaborating with Amelia again.
