Ceramics have been a hand-crafted art form for as long as woman has walked the earth. But in the 20th century, more and more people began to rely on big-chain, mass-produced, soulless items for their everyday needs, no more so than their drinkware and dishware.

Erika Gibson is bringing back the ancient art of pottery and marrying humanity’s oldest craft with beautiful, modern designs. From her home studio in North Carolina, she’s melding ancient ways with a modern aesthetic to produce something entirely new: attractive hand-crafted ceramics that are equally at home in a minimalist upscale apartment, or a rustic log cabin.
